Mr David Elsing

Founding Director

Back in 2012, David caught a vision. A school. Not just any school — but a classical Christian one. For years it lived in notebooks, prayers, and late-night conversations. And then in 2021, the vision started to become a reality. God provided the right place, the right people and the right moment. The Classical School began.

An Experienced School Leader

David doesn’t just talk education. He’s lived it.

Before launching The Classical School, he served as Head of Secondary at Mundaring Christian College — part of the Swan Christian Education Association. In those years he led the campus through rapid growth, laying down a foundation of excellence, discipleship, and high standards. Students thrived. Staff flourished. The vision sharpened.

Now he brings that same drive and creativity here — consolidating our growing community with both genuine care and high expectations.

Father of Five

David isn’t just a school leader. He’s a dad — to five children. That means he knows what parents face: the energy, the questions, the struggles, the potential. He knows that children have a built-in passion to learn… when they’re given the right boundaries, the right encouragement, and the right love.

A Scholar & Craftsman

David's passion for truth and beauty has taken him far. He trained at the Florence Academy of Arts in Italy. He holds a Masters of Education (UWA), a Bachelor of Education in Secondary Visual Art and Humanities (ECU), and a Graduate Certificate in Educational Leadership & Management (USYD). He has studied New Testament theology at Ridley College, and for over a decade has immersed himself in the classical Christian curriculum — including Latin.

Why He Leads

Ask him why he started The Classical School, and the answer is simple:
Because children need more than academics. They need to be formed into men and women of wisdom.

And the Liberal Arts — grammar, logic, rhetoric, the humanities, the sciences — are powerful tools in the hands of faithful Christian teachers to shape students into leaders for Christ.

That’s the heartbeat of David's work. And it’s why The Classical School exists.
