Mrs Luiza Smith

Classical Educator & Homeschooling Practitioner

Luiza Smith is a four-year trained teacher with experience across secondary and primary education, curriculum design, literacy and numeracy intervention, foreign language instruction, and national assessment marking (NAPLAN). She brings both professional training and lived practice to her work at The Classical School.

Formed Through Classical Home Education

Luiza has over twenty years’ experience as a home-educating parent, educating her four children through a liberal arts framework grounded in Christian faith. Her approach draws on Montessori principles in the early years, Charlotte Mason methods, and the Trivium of Grammar, Logic, and Rhetoric as students mature. Her children have gone on to diverse academic pathways, including commerce, performing arts, nursing, and environmental science.

Thoughtful, Rigorous, and Humane

As an English teacher by training, Luiza has a deep respect for good literature and its power to shape the mind and character. She values careful reading, disciplined thought, and Socratic dialogue, and continues her own formation through sustained study of the Great Books.

Faithful Formation with a Long View

Luiza’s teaching is marked by seriousness, humility, and warmth. She is committed not only to academic excellence, but to forming students who can think clearly, question wisely, and live with kindness and responsibility in light of their Christian faith.
